Prayers, please.

Hello faithful blog readers -- Well, I guess I should refer to you as faithful blog checkers, because there's normally nothing new to read... I do have a little bit for you today, but no pictures.

I am here today to ask for your prayers.  We found out a few weeks ago that my dad's cancer has returned.  He felt a lump in his neck and thankfully made an appointment with his oncologist, Dr. Matthews.  He had a PET scan done and it found one tumor.  A biopsy was also done and determined that the cancer is the same cancer that he had six years ago.  Same grade, same stage, but this time there is only one spot.  After meeting with Dr. Matthews to review the results of the biopsy, she recommended he go to St. Louis to see a doctor about possibly trying a different kind of chemo treatment.  Mom and Dad went down to St. Louis last Friday.  The new doctor does not recommend a stem cell transplant so Dad will have his chemo done here in Springfield.  We are still waiting for a timeline, but please keep my dad in your prayers.  The doctor used the words treatable and curable and we are confident that my dad will be cancer free soon.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers!

Also, Brooke will be having surgery on Wednesday.  When we saw her ENT doctor in the fall, he decided that her trach hole wasn't closing the way it should.  The surgery is outpatient so we won't need to spend the night and it all sounds pretty minor, but it's still a surgery.  Please pray for Brooke and her doctors and nurses so that all goes smoothly.  Also, please pray for this momma... surgery is never easy when it's your baby!
